WFSC e. V. presents the german freestyle open 2025!
“Freestyle Skateboarding Returns to Marl!
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, freestyle skateboarding returns to Marl, to the sports hall of the August Döhr School. For the first time in 40 years, the scene will gather here again for an open German championship that connects generations! Legends from the past, who helped shape the style, will meet the new guard pushing the limits. Expect a field of Europe’s elite freestylers from all generations!
The sports hall offers ideal conditions with its generous space – not only for the contest itself but also for warming up and training. All participants will even have the chance to sleep directly in the hall.
To make travel as smooth as possible, there will be a shuttle service: on the Friday before the event, as well as on Sunday and Monday after, regular rides will connect to Marl Sinsen and Marl Mitte train stations.
So nothing stands in the way of a stress-free weekend full of freestyle, community, and good vibes. We look forward to welcoming you to Marl on December 13!
A central goal of the Open German Freestyle Competition is to honor the roots of our sport. Back in 1984, a legendary contest took place in Marl, where some of the key pioneers of German freestyle skateboarding made history. They weren’t superstars, but trailblazers who, with heart, curiosity, and an unbroken will, created something entirely new.
Today, decades later, we want to bring that story back to life – not out of nostalgia, but as a bridge between generations. We warmly invite the riders from back then to once again be part of this movement – as spectators, conversation partners, or as competitors in the Masters category.
Skateboarding is more than just a sport. It’s living culture. It’s family. It’s a space where generations don’t face off against each other but ride together. Where mutual respect counts – not age, status, or skill.
Especially in times of social division, we want to show what true community means: young talents, old legends, parents, kids, beginners, world champions – all sharing one floor, united by a board with four wheels.
We hope that many of the original freestylers will once again make their way to Marl. Some have already been found – and a few of them are still active today. They still ride, compete, share their experience, and are living proof that skateboarding has no expiration date.
We’d be thrilled to have you with us!”
